General Dentistry

What age should I take my child to the dentist for the first time?

It is recommended that you take your children for their first dental appointment when they are around six months old. If you notice that your children have discolored teeth, you will want to bring them in before this.

What should I use to clean my baby’s teeth?

Any soft-bristled toothbrush with a small head. There are ones designed specially for infants that are perfect to use at bedtime.

What should I do if my child has a toothache?

First, rinse the irritated area with warm water and place a cold compress on your child’s face if it is swollen. You can give your child acetaminophen for the pain. Once you do this, make sure that you see your dentist as soon as possible.

How can I prevent decay caused by nursing?

Try to avoid nursing children to sleep or putting anything other than water in their bedtime bottle. Also make sure that you learn and teach your children the proper way to floss and brush at a young age. Taking your children to the dentist regularly to have their teeth checked will help them learn lifelong habits.

Invisalign

Is Invisalign treatment painful?

As with traditional metal braces, you may experience some temporary discomfort each time you place a new set of aligners in your mouth. This discomfort is usually pressure, and a sign that your aligners are doing their job and moving your teeth.

How often should I come in for an Invisalign checkup?

Invisalign checkups are every 4 to 6 weeks. They are important as they give us a chance to make sure your treatment is progressing as it should.

Will I need to wear a retainer afterwards?

If you would like your new and improved smile to last for years to come, wearing a retainer once you complete Invisalign treatment is essential. It helps reduce your risk of relapse and ensures your teeth remain straight.

How should I clean my aligners?

We recommend brushing them with toothpaste and water. It is a good idea to get into the habit of doing this each time you brush and floss your teeth.

Will Invisalign affect my speech?

Invisalign is like other orthodontic appliances in that it may temporarily affect the way you speak. The good news is that once your tongue and lips get used to the aligners, you will be able to speak normally.

How long does treatment usually take?

Your age and the severity of your case determine the length of your treatment plan. However, most patients complete their Invisalign treatment in about 6 months. We offer Invisalign for both teens and adults, and consultations are free.

Insurance & Payment

Do you take my insurance?

We are an insurance-friendly office and participate with most PPO plans, including Aetna, Anthem, Blue Shield, Cigna, Delta, GEHA, Guardian, Humana, MetLife, Principal, SunLife Financial, Tricare, United Concordia and United Healthcare. Because plans change, please see the full list or contact the office for the most up-to-date confirmation.

Do I have to file my own claims?

No. As a courtesy to our patients we file all insurance claims on your behalf, and our insurance experts will do everything possible to help you use your coverage to its fullest.

What should I bring to my first visit?

If you are insured, please bring your insurance information to your first visit so we can confirm your benefits and coverage. Dental plans are unique to each patient, so benefits vary from person to person.

What if I do not have insurance?

No insurance? No sweat. Our Minted Membership plan covers your cleanings, exams and x-rays twice a year and gives you 20% off most common procedures — with no waiting periods, deductibles or annual caps.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. We are happy to work with third-party financiers to offer low and no interest payment plans, and we will always explain your treatment options and the cost associated with each before you commit.

Minted Membership

What does the membership include?

Two free regular cleanings a year, two free dentist exams a year, two free sets of x-rays a year, and 20% off the most common dental procedures.

Are there waiting periods, caps or deductibles?

None. There are no waiting periods, no claim forms to submit, no dollar caps on services, and no deductibles or maximums.

How do I enroll?

Joining is easy. Just let us know you are interested when you come in for your appointment — we take care of the rest and get you enrolled during your visit. You can also ask us about it when you book online.

Dental Emergencies

Can I be seen the same day?

Usually, yes. Call (480) 400-1794 and we will do our best to see and treat you as quickly as possible. Same-day emergency appointments are available and urgent care can typically be provided the same day.

What counts as a dental emergency?

A toothache, a chipped or cracked tooth, a knocked-out tooth, or a missing or loose piece of dental work such as a filling or crown. If you are unsure, call us — we can also walk you through first aid and pain management over the phone.

A tooth has been knocked out. What do I do right now?

Pick the tooth up by the crown only — do not touch the root or remove any tissue still attached to it. Gently rinse off dirt or debris and place it back into the open socket. If that is not possible, keep it in milk or saltwater to preserve it for up to one hour, and call us immediately.

I have lost a filling or crown.

Most fillings need to be replaced outright. In the meantime you can temporarily cover the exposed part of the tooth with dental cement, which can also hold a crown in place. These are temporary measures only — please book in to have the restoration replaced.

What will emergency treatment cost?

It depends on what is needed to repair the damage. We will review your situation, explain all of your treatment options and help you understand the cost of each. We also process and file insurance claims to offset your out-of-pocket costs, and can arrange low or no interest payment plans.
